In the Burmese language, Burma is known as either Myanma or Bama. Burma, located in Southeastern Asia, is officially known as the Union of Myanmar and it is the largest nation in the region in terms of area. Burma is a member of the World Trade Organization. Burma enjoys mixed economy where agriculture, transport activities and light industries are dominated by the private sector and rice trade and energy are dominated by the government. Agriculture is also a key contributor and main products include paddy rice, maize, oilseed, sugarcane, pulses and hardwood. Chief industries are agricultural processing, textiles and footwear, construction materials, wood and wood products, metallurgical industry, pharmaceuticals and fertilizer industry. |
